It is said at the time of menstruation, a woman's weight can fluctuate as much as five pounds depending on the amount of water or food she has consumed. In these cases, the weight will gradually decrease after the period cycle.
A lot depends on the age too. As a woman ages and moves into her 30's it is likely for her to feel tired and incapable of being active as in the 20's. Wright gain during menstruation is because of the decreasing metabolism and bodily abilities.
Depression is one of the many things that most women face at the time of menstruation. It occurs at the time of PMS and women who are under depression have the tendency to eat more and sit in the corner doing just about nothing. This inactivity leads to weight gain during a period.
The reason why women tend to crave at the time of menstruation is because their magnesium level goes down resulting in the rise of insulin levels and hence the need for more sugar in the body thus indirectly leading to weight gain.
A woman's body goes through many hormonal changes at the time of menses and one of them is tummy bloating. Due to bloating, a woman may experience severe menstrual cramps and alongside feel heavy like weight gain.
